Unique Facilities at Petals Kids: Built for How Children Actually Learn

A preschool building is more than four walls. The design of the space directly shapes what children can do, what they explore and how confidently they grow. Petals Kids branches across Pune and PCMC are organised into six purpose-designed zones, each tied to a specific area of child development.

Petals Kids facilities include indoor play zones, a Montessori-style learning lab, a sports arena, a podium and AV room, a science lab and a stage performance area. These facilities support physical, cognitive, creative and social development for children aged 1.5 to 13 years across Pune and PCMC branches.

Indian Academy of Paediatrics research shows that children with access to dedicated motor-skill zones develop fine and gross motor benchmarks up to 30% earlier than peers in unstructured spaces. Petals Kids branches across Pune and PCMC are built around six purpose-designed activity zones to convert this research into measurable child outcomes.

  • Six purpose-designed activity zones at every Petals Kids branch
  • Indoor play zones for monsoon-safe motor development
  • Montessori-style learning lab for independent exploration
  • Sports arena, AV podium, science lab and performance stage

Classroom Design Standards

Beyond the activity zones, classrooms themselves are designed for early childhood learning. Furniture is sized for children, not adapted from adult furniture. Storage is at child-eye level so children can access materials independently. Wall space displays children’s own work rather than commercial posters. Natural light is prioritised wherever possible.

Sports Arena With Turf Grass

Children are introduced to the concepts of exercises and games. This area of learning focuses on children’s physical development. Kids needs large open spaces to run, play and exercise freely. Sports Teacher is experienced and helps kids with age appropriate physical exercises, team games & individual games.

Podium & Audio Visual Room

Great emphasis is placed on developing the child’s confidence to speak in front of public and that too with expression. Podiums and stage are designed to develop their communication and language skills through talking, drama and singing. Children are supported in becoming confident speakers. Every Petalite is given an opportunity to come and perform on the stage and speak in front of the podium.

Petalites stage performance leaves the audience in awe as they perform on stage. The enthusiasm, energy and confidence of Petalites reverberates on stage and in the audience.

Hygiene and Safety Across All Zones

Every zone follows the same hygiene baseline. Equipment is wiped down between sessions. Toys are washed at the end of the day. Play surfaces are sanitised every morning. Children wash hands before and after each zone. Staff supervise transitions between zones to prevent accidents. CCTV covers all common areas.

Maintenance and Updates

Activity zone equipment is reviewed quarterly. Worn items are removed. New age-appropriate materials are added based on observations from teachers and feedback from children. Major facility updates happen during the summer break, when the centre is between academic sessions, so the new school year begins with refreshed zones.
